Gear: Srixon’s All-New ZXi Irons

How Forged Should Feel

Srixon’s proprietary i-FORGED, or Impact Forged, process strengthens and optimises each ZXi Iron, delivering well-rounded performance. “The i-Forging process allowed us to select the best steel for each ZXi Iron, enhancing both feel and performance,” said Dustin Brekke, Director of Engineering. “For the ZXi7 Players Iron, we used S15C, the softest steel we’ve ever featured, to improve feedback and feel.”

To maintain strength and durability, Srixon used Condensed Forging across the ZXi7, ZXi5, and ZXiU Irons, reinforcing specific sections for added support. This technique enables the use of softer materials without sacrificing durability, resulting in a pure, responsive feel. Testing has shown that the ZXi7’s single-piece body material is 7 percent softer, while the face material of the ZXiU and ZXi5 is 14 percent softer than the previous ZX Mk II generation.

Each ZXi Iron is also tempered in a specialised oven to ensure optimal softness and strength, marking Srixon’s softest treatment yet.

Consistency in Every Strike

The ZXi7 Irons, designed for players who value Tour-preferred aesthetics, feel, and workability, deliver premium performance. An expanded PureFrame, forged into the body and placed directly behind the sweet spot, reduces unwanted vibrations, achieving a 9.3 percent reduction in vibration displacement compared to ZX7 Mk II Irons. This translates to a remarkably stable feel at impact.

In the ZXi5, ZXi4, and ZXiU Irons, MainFrame technology returns for its third generation. This variable thickness network of grooves, channels, and notches on the backside of the iron face maximises flex for efficient energy transfer. A wider toe-side channel in the updated design allows engineers to lower the CG and increase MOI, promoting higher ball speed, consistency, and forgiveness.

The ZXi Irons are designed to blend seamlessly, allowing golfers to create customised sets with uniform shaping and nearly identical topline thickness for consistent looks at address.

“Combination sets are increasingly popular, and we offer three pairings that players love: ZXiU and ZXi7 for a blend of forgiveness in long irons with workability in shorter irons; ZXi5 and ZXi7 for powerful distance and versatility; and ZXi4 and ZXi5, pairing cavity-back short irons with hollow long irons for maximum forgiveness,” Brekke explained.

Additional Features & Benefits

Tour V.T. Sole: Tour V.T. Sole elevates turf interaction with a precise combination of sole width, bounce, and notches for clean strikes and workability in every ZXi Iron model. For the first time, Tour V.T. Sole is also featured on ZXiU Utility Irons, enhancing long-game versatility.

Progressive Grooves: Grooves are wider in the 3i-7i for consistent spin, while the 8i-AW grooves are deeper and closer to ensure optimal spin control. Laser milling between grooves on each loft increases bite on every strike.
