Black Desert Championship R1 - Golf Today

Adam Svensson signed for a flawless 60 featuring an eagle at the par-5 7th to take a two-shot lead at 11-under before play was suspended at the Black Desert Championship.

“It was great,” said the Canadian. “Hit my irons extremely well. Had a lot of good looks. I didn’t feel like I putted that great, but they just kind of snuck in. It was just one of those days.

“The eagle putt I had coming in there, I thought it was going to go left and it went right and went in. You’ve got to get a little bit lucky here and there. But overall I played very well.”

Svensson recorded his career-low round on the PGA Tour, his previous low round was 61 set on two occasions and most recently in round two of the 2019 Wyndham Championship.

Svensson’s was the ninth round of 60 or better on Tour this season and the second in as many weeks (David Skinns/Sanderson Farms Championship/R1).

Swede Henrik Norlander and American rookie Matt McCarty both shot bogey-free 62s with McCarty’s round featuring an eagle at the par-4 5th.

Norlander’s 62 tops his previous low round of 64 recorded six times, most recently during the second round of the 2023 Shriners Children’s Open.

Play was suspended due to darkness at 7:04 p.m. MT with 24 players yet to complete their round. Those players will be back in position at 8 a.m., with the second round beginning as scheduled at 7:40 a.m.
