Maguire keeps her head in front at Centurion as Hall closes in - Golf News

A gusty day two ended much like the first at Centurion Club, with Leona Maguire producing top quality golf to remain two shots ahead of Georgia Hall at Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – London.

Maguire carded three birdies across her round, two of which came on yet another flawless back nine for the two-time LPGA winner, all while Hall put the pressure on with five birdies on her front nine to take the lead early on.

The strong winds presented a challenge once again on the par-73 course, and the Irishwoman had to adapt her game – something she relished and enjoyed.

Yeah, it’s really windy out there. It’s probably two, three shot winds in places,” said Maguire after her round. “It’s playing a little bit linksy. The course is running out, getting firm and fast, and the wind is quite strong.  It was swirling in places, so you just try to hit a few punchy shots that I probably haven’t used in a while. It’s definitely a welcome back to European golf. It’s a good test and I enjoyed it.

The team competition is set for a play-off finale between Team Hall and Team Nadaud on the morning of the final day.  Both Team Nadaud and Team Hall finished the final day of team competition on 24-under-par in considerably tougher conditions than round one, with both team’s amateurs adding valuable scores to force the play-off.  A blemish free round from Nadaud’s teammate Napoleaova, and the best golf she has played in months from captain Hall both making the difference for their respective teams.

Hall said, “It was so windy, much windier than yesterday. I didn’t hit a shot wrong, I played really good golf and probably the best I played and a few months. We had a good day again, in really tough conditions.”

Diksha Dagar, who is set to represent India at the 2024 Summer Olympics, carded a 68, the joint-best round of the second day, with five birdies and no dropped shots to move her firmly inside the top ten and in contention for a tilt at the title.
